Young adults between 18-30 years of age, representing European churches will actively participate at the General Assembly as delegates, stewards and advisors.
Youth Pre-Assembly event
To ensure efficient youth participation, CEC is organising a Youth Pre-Assembly event from 28-31 May 2018 in Novi Sad, Serbia.
The Youth Pre-Assembly event is an ecumenical formation programme. It aims to provide young adults a general overview of the development of ecumenical relations in Europe. It will place the work of CEC within the broader ecumenical movement, identifying and discussing key ecumenical concerns and CEC’s current areas of work.
The event will provide practical information concerning the life and overall running of the General Assembly to ensure positive participation of young adults.
In addition, the Youth Pre-Assembly event will provide a space for young adults to engage in exploring the theme of the General Assembly: “You shall be my witnesses”.
The young participants will be offered possibilities for community-building and networking during the different sessions and social events.
Part of the event will be dedicated to the preparation of the General Assembly Plenary on Youth that will harvest and articulate fresh perspectives on witness, justice and hospitality in Europe today – themes that will be in focus at the General Assembly.
Central to the Youth Pre-Assembly is prayer and Bible study. The event will expose participants to the variety of spiritualties and liturgical expressions in Europe in order to foster understanding of diversity and inspire respect for differences.
The Stewards’ Programme is central to the overall smooth running of the General Assembly. Stewards will contribute in different areas of work, such as common prayer, documentation, communications, language services and floor management.
The Stewards Programme will bring together 50 young adults from different parts of Europe. It begins with an intensive training during the Pre-Assembly Youth event and runs throughout the General Assembly.
